Webpage Hosting Services
If you’re worried just start with a free site. You’ll notice immediately that the webpage address at a free web hosting service is not simply yourbandname.com.
For example, my webpage address is sansietch.webs.com
If you decide you simply cannot live without your own domain name, then you’re going to need to purchase one. This is done on a by month or by year type contract.
I want you to consider these initial costs as just the beginning in a series of choices on where to spend your marketing budget. Understanding that a high school start up band may have $50 a year available, and an adult with employment may have several thousand.
Choices will have to be made along the way, which either incur or eliminate costs. Remember, you’ll be able to do a new pay site later on if you want. With the knowledge gained herein, you’ll do it easily.
I started originally with a single page free website. That was fine to start with and it forced me to learn to write in html. There are hosting companies now, however, that offer fairly nice multi-page layouts for free.
Tips for Setting Up Your Webpage
1. At the top of your homepage, put an image or photo and fairly large title. Many people surf with a fairly small visible area open on their browser. This means you need to grab them quick! Don’t start with loads of small writing.
2. Break the page into headlines and smaller text wherever possible. People have trouble reading many lines of same size text.
3. Offer them something right away, right on the homepage!
4. Whether or not you have pages, fill your page with links and active content.
5. Remember you’ll need to put up some banners later to bring visitors to the site. If you build it they will come is not true with web pages. There’s simply too much available online.

This is the ultimate learning example. See for yourself how I set up the new site using the knowledge I gained.

By now you should have reviewed several web hosting sites, and have signed up and be building your site. Guess what? You’re a Webmaster!
The next step will be to add in some money making features such as affiliate advertising and banner exchanges, etc.
Don’t stop here or your site will draw flies instead of fans.
